Things I'm Currently Digging

A few months ago, I walked into HMV and as usual, it was a painful experience.. You see, I have to take a lot of things into consideration when I buy a DVD. The cover has to be cool, the reviews on the front/back have to be great, and the reviews online need to be amazing too. It really is a useless waste of time way to shop this way but no one lets you return a DVD once you've opened and watched it which means you're stuck with it for life!

I hate having anything in my possesion that I don't love or will never use so I always end up giving crap DVD's to charities or selling them to musicmagpie.com for the shittest price imaginable. I seem to have some kind of dodgy OCD when it comes to this as I feel an immediate need to get DVD's that I don't like out of my house as soon as possible. Purchasing them ends up being unnecessary hassle that I bring on myself!

Anyhow, I'm digressing. I left with a film called 'The Heartbreaker' because I liked the cover, (the guy on it was cute and it was highly rated by magazines that I read so I figured it would be a winner). Yes, the term 'don't judge a book by its cover' is unfortunately rarely practised in my day-to-day life.

Lucky for me, this film turned out to be perfect! First of all, it was French. I love French films, they're always so charming, amusing and enchanting. I feel that perhaps I made this perception up in my head just because I am fascinated by the French, but still, the film was great. It was so funny and so cute and had many references to Dirty Dancing which I loved. I'm going to watch it again tonight because I'm really craving a pick-me-up and this is definitely one that puts you in a better mood instantly.

I've been getting ready to this song erryday and really can't get enough of it. You know those songs that bring back such powerful memories and make you think of certain situations and certain people.. The ones that leave you feeling either really happy or really sad? This song makes me feel both, but also makes me feel like I'm ready to kick some ass which let's be honest, is never a bad thing.

If dubstep isn't really you're thing then try the original. The video is truely crap, but the tune is catchy.

I just finished reading Brooklyn Girls by Gemma Burgess. For those of you who don't know, it's obviously about a bunch of girls living in Brooklyn. I love Gemma's writing style and have been stalking her on twitter to find out the release date for this ever since reading her first two books, The Dating Detox and A Girl Like You.

If you're anything like me then you too will be sick of the fluffy, frothy, meaningless books they now refer to as 'chick-lit.' The way some of these authors write really make me wonder how they got published in the first place. Gemma's writing style is completely different to that genre even though it is technically chick lit. She writes so refreshingly, entertainingly, slick, and so-so real.

Brooklyn girls is about a bunch of early twenty-something girls who have graduated and are now trying to figure out the transition period between being a student and being a responsible adult. I could relate to the problems and the good times that the girls have together, and I love reading a book where you're rooting for all the characters to have happy endings the whole way through.

It kind of made me love being a 20 something living in a big city, and made me super inspired to find a job that I love and am super passionate about. It also made me want to party more because the party scenes reminded me of the best nights that we used to have whilst we were all at uni. I need to find a way to incorporate these crazy fun nights into my adult-working-life!

This is a series so there will be more on the girls soon and I'm already counting down the days until the next book!

I am really, really, really excited about this food truck. I love lobster, but I especially love eating lobster in unfancy hubs, and this is as unfancy-but-cool-as-hell as things get. They serve lobster in brioche rolls (my number one choice), lobster in mac 'n' cheese (second choice), lobster bisque, and of course tuna tacos for those who are adverse to lobster, (although why would you visit a food truck specialising in lobster if this was the case?!) The wine served is perfectly matched to the lobster and it is all served out of a '57 campervan.. Really, could London offer me anything sweeter?!
Serving lobster in various guises, try the lobster roll in brioche, lobster mac and cheese, lobster bisque or for those adverse to a bit of lobster, there's ahi tuna tacos. Not just serious about lobster, B.O.B's is serious about wine thanks to Managing Director Rob Dann who's also Managing Director of Bedales Wines. So expect wine perfectly matched to lobster, of course as well as some Prosecco and Brooklyn Summer Ale.

Still on the topic of lobster, (big fan people, big fan), I am also super excited to visit Rock Lobsta.  It's located above Mahiki and sounds like it's going to be a treat.

Will someone take me on a date there pretty please?! xoxo
