A Week In Pictures

I am aware that these pictures blaitently suck but they're there to give you a glimpse of the past week at work. Like I mentioned earlier, I am definitely not a morning person but when I saw the drawing on the whiteboard of the London Underground, I quickly perked up. Someone obviously woke up on the right side of the bed and had LOTS of time to spare but I'm glad they did because I noticed that whenever someone would see the drawing, they immediately had a smile on their face afterwards.

The images of the shoes (Steve Madden and Kurt Geiger) were taken to demonstrate reasons why I love my interning job sometimes even when it can get very tedious (cough, returns suck, cough). I really like the detail on each shoe and I'm a sucker for anything studded or sparkly so I feel they epitomise me, thus I have to have them!

I got a really crap picture of the office but you can visualize it's a gazillion times bigger than that with lots more people and lots more energy. But at least now you know what the inside of a real life magazine/newspaper office looks like :-)

The picture of the model posing was taken on a photoshoot I helped at last week in this amazing historic conservatory. I had to take it from the back and from miles away because I knew I'd get into trouble if I was being snap happy with my blackberry whilst in a professional environment lol - That is so typically something I'd get in trouble for aswell.

And lastly, I was having a really shit day at work yesterday and one of the head stylists came over to give me a cupcake from this vintage patisserie. It said "I Heart Shoes" on it and I really couldn't have asked for anything more perfect. It tasted so divine aswell, might have to consider this vintage cupcake place topping my usual favourite: Hummingbird Bakery. Now that is really saying something.

So there you go, a week in pictures. Now to start my essay and spend 10 hours on it before hand-in.. Somethings will never change!

1 Week And 1 Day To Go!

I am SOO excited about my birthday party! I'm a little depressed about turning 21, especially as I met the coolest 15 year olds at work (they were interning for their 2 week work experience). It totally made me miss being young and having that thrill of going to parties and drinking alcohol underage, and finally getting to kiss each different boy I fell in love with every week.. (I know right?!) Anyway, I booked the venue today so I am even more excited now because it's all coming together. It's this cute as hell bar lounge tucked away in Notting Hill Gate. It's called Ruby and Sequoia. I also sent out all 120 invites (through facebook and texts so nothing glamorous but still..) Most people have RSVP'd yes so I'm really excited.. No better way to celebrate turning 21 then with good friends, good cocktails, good music, amazing birthday cake and a fabulous venue. Oh and I forgot to mention the best part of all..Getting to rip open my presents!

Monday

Re-Vamp

I am definitely not a morning person. I am especially not a morning person on a monday when it is rainy and depressing outside and I am comfy and warm under my duvet (which is way too big for my bed). All this interning is really taking a lot of energy out of me but the pro is that being in the fashion department everyday has really made me want to update my image.

I see a lot of models everyday who come in for fittings and they're always sporting this effortlessly chic look. On top of that, all the stylists in our department are always dressed so fashionably and on-trend. These new people in my life are acting like such a big influence on me and what I choose to wear every day!

I'm used to pairing my short shorts with a cute top, leggings with a long vest or simply turning up in a dress from my very large collections of dresses.. But now I feel it's time to dive into the deep end and start aiming for pieces I wouldn't normally wear.. So this monday morning, I woke up with the urge to try re-vamping my wardrobe for the week. Here's what I'm using as inspiration. Remember, it's always easier to start with littie changes first!

Tuesday

The Outfit That Screams SEX APPEAL!

Ever since I found this picture taken during Paris Fashion Week, I've been obsessed with the outfit! It's smart and sophisticated with a serious hint of sex appeal. I love the way it's totally non-slutty as she's paired it (rather sensibly) with leather pants and a statement necklace. I can't imagine that sheer top looking so good paired with anything else, but I really want to buy it just so I can experiment as it can soo easily look like trash if paired with the wrong piece. Anyway, I am seriously going to find any event to gatecrash now purely to enable me to re-create this look on myself.. How much do we love?

Boots And Boys

Last friday I assisted on a photoshoot and the story was 'denim'. It was seriously amazzzing to see a real-life shoot take place with real models, real photographers and real styling that would eventually make it to print. I was especially shocked as the model turned out to be beautiful and smart and really funny. She was a Russian girl that had lived in London as a model for 6 years. Anyway, it sure as hell made me laugh when she told me she asked her english live-in boyfriend if he would marry her for visa purposes only! Even funnier, he said no because of his principles lol!

Anyway, the thing I loved most about the shoot was the styling. I LOVED the use of shorts and the way they were incorporated into masculine looks with hints of femininity; whether this was portrayed through romantic blouses mixed with brouges, or lace mixed with boots, or most commonly: the use of manly shoe-boots. This isn't a style I'd normally sport myself but after seeing the images from the shoot and on the street, I think I'm going to have to start moving out of my comfort zone a little and endure in this little gem of a trend as it looks oh-soo-good!

Note to self: DEFINITELY have to invest in a pair of patterened sheer black tights like the dotted ones shown below. They're fabulous, especially during spring weather!

Hoes Before Bros

Lately I've been thinking about the past a lot and reminising on some amazing times. I used to have a friend, (amongst many others), who was fabulous.. (always wanted her own way.. but still fabulous). We had been friends since we were 9 and met in ballet class. She was like my soul-mate and we were joint at the hip through primary and secondary school.. But as we all know, life takes it's toll and thing's change, people change and situations tend to get god-damn-messy. Sometimes change makes way for the better, but sometimes it makes way for the worse.

As it goes, me and this friend are no longer in touch due to tons of reasons, but even so, I'm glad I can look back and know that I had the creme-de-la-crop of a best friend at one point in my life. The whole situation that occured with this girl really taught me to cherish the friends in my life now because they are the ones who are going to be there in the long run, and to be honest they are 100,000 times more fabulous than my wacko-jacko ex friend!

So here's to all my beautiful, smart and amazing friends.. Whether you live down the road or a million miles away, I will always be there for you like you've all been there for me. Even if that means waking up at 3am to come help you kick some bitches ass, or whether you need an accomplice to dance on tables with, eat junk food with, or just be generally crazy in full force.. You know you can always count on me to be crazy with you.

Love you all forever because you know it's hoes before bros.. ALWAYS! :-)

Tuesday

Models Models Models

I was having a browse through the blog http://altamiranyc.blogspot.com, and found a bunch of photos of models off-duty (seeing as this is the point of the blog lol). I love love love these images! Models are so damn cool and always have this way of dressing so fabulously; it's like a cross between fashionably chic and effortlessly cool. I'm thinking of making a massive mood-board for my room in the new flat and using images of all the outfits I'm mesmerized by. These models will deffo have a place on that board!
